Make-it Monday #206: Stamping & Mixing Patterns

This week's PTI MIM Challenge was to create a card using a mix of at least three background patterns. See the video here:

At first, I thought this was going to be easy.  Boy, was I wrong!  I tried several different combinations of colors and patterns, but nothing seemed to turn out quite right.  Finally, I noticed the cute little circular "smile" stamp from the Enclosed:  Flower stamp set and decided to work with that.  After stamping a row of smile circles in Pure Poppy and Hawaiian Shores, I was happy.  However, then came the daunting task of what to mix with it.  I settled on some Hawaiin Shores and Aqua Mist for backgrounds, but still needed to stamp them.  I searched through all of my stamp sets and chose the star from Sparkle & Shine and a patterned print from Background Basics:  Botanicals.  I stayed with the red and aqua theme, using the same ink colors for stamping.  Next, I cut out the list die that matches the Divided stamp set from the Moments Inked collection and cut off the bottom third.  I have a little stamp that looks like washi tape and thought it would look cute under my "Smile" sentiment.  I completed the card with a red button and I few vertical strips of red cardstock to break up the background.

City Crafter Challenge Blog Week #253

This week I am participating the the City Crafter Challenge for the very first time.  My sister in law made a card for the challenge last week and was selected as the winner!  After she shared the exciting news with me, I decided to check it out.  Upon taking one look at this week's beautiful inspiration photo, I knew I had to join in the fun.

Here's the inspiration photo and a link back to the challenge.

Look at all of those gorgeous colors and beach themed accents!  So pretty!

I was inspired by the combination of neutral, sandy tones, white, pink, and coral as well as the beach and seashells.  This is my take on the challenge.  I wanted to create the feel of a pink sunset over a sandy beach scattered with shells.  I hope you like it.

PTI Make It Monday #203: Doodling with Stamps

When I first saw Ashley's doodle card during the PTI February Release Celebration, I was in awe!  This is such an ingenious idea that just adds that little something extra to your cards and it looks so great!  After watching Ashley's instructional video, I was inspired to create this card.

I stamped the Enclosed:  Flower onto Sweet Blush cardstock using Hibiscus Burst and Berry Sorbet ink.  Then, I doodled around the edges of the flowers with a black pen.  Next, I used the "Hugs" die cut from Big Hugs and attached my stamped card onto a slightly larger piece of black cardstock.  I added black brads in each corner and some polka dot ribbon as a finishing touch.  Thanks for stopping by to take a look!
